Journey of Discovery into the Jurassic Sea
Age: | All ages |
Number of Participants: | 20 children maximum |
Duration: | 2 hours |
This invitation to a journey of discovery into the Jurassic Sea is about discovering the inhabitants of the seas that occupied our region 180 million years ago: marine fossils, marine fauna. From one room to another in the museum, children travel back in time to the Jurassic seas. They tame the stone fossils that come to life, move around and eat "who or what, and how?". In the company of a Guide, imagination allows access to knowledge through questions and answers, manipulations, observations, mimes, drawings... The living world takes shape in the minds of the children, who progress easily in discovering the skeletons of marine reptiles, ammonite shells and present-day nautilus, tropical aquariums and also the fossil prints that they make themselves before leaving.
Water Above! Water Below! The Wonderous Worlds of Water
Age: | 8 - 12 years |
Number of Participants: | 20 children maximum |
Duration: | 2 hours |
From the ramparts of Saint Benoît, the children learn to differentiate between the differences of terrain and rocks that make up the landscape. They test how water reacts and interacts with these rocks and discover its action of erosion and transport. The children also discover that water plays a major role in the life of living organisms, water itself is a living environment whose inhabitants can be observed with a magnifying glass. The underground routes of water are also examined, and thanks to the natural water-spring of Saint Benoît, the notions of taste and drinkability are explained. A comprehension insight to the cycle of water ensures the children don't just part with knowledge and fond memories, but also a keep-sake.
Local Friendly Snakes
Age: | All ages |
Number of Participants | 20 children maximum |
Duration: | 2 hours |
In order not to be afraid of them, you have to understand and know them! Thanks to the illustrations in this associated exhibition, children of all ages discover through discussions and games the secret life of these small reptiles that are so often unloved. Whatever their size, their skeletons fascinate, as do their jaws and their impressive abilities ... even if it's only to swallow a grasshopper! In direct relation with the cycle of the seasons, their discreet activity participates in the maintenance of the local, rich biodiversity: by detailing the 10 local species (out of 12 national species), the older children will be able to ponder about reptilian diets, their preferred biotopes or their way of reproduction, while the little ones will finish the activity by making themselves a snake capable of slithering on the ground ... which they will paint when the clay is dry.
